Thin Wood Walls
by David PatneaudeThin Wood Walls is a really great realistic fiction story. It follows an 11-year-old boy named Joe Hanada through the Japanese Internment and WWII. He and his family are sent to Tule Lake War Relocation Camp. For those of you who don't know, the Japanese Internment occurred after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. All American citizens of Japanese descent were forced to move into huge internment camps (this was like a minor Holocaust in America).
The book isn't very long, so I can't say much without spoiling what happens. It really touches on an important piece of history that many people find unimportant. I highly recommend this book to anyone who needs a good realistic fiction book to read. It's not a very popular read, but I do know that you can get copies off of Amazon. Please check it out!
