Eona: By Alison Goodman

This is the incredible sequel to Eon, definitely one of my top five books ever. Eona begins where many books end (to quote one of the many positive comments about this book) which is in the absolute center of a crisis. The kingdom has been claimed by High Lord Sethon, the deceased emperor’s evil brother and the new emperor’s uncle, who will stop at nothing to kill Emperor Kygo and claim the throne. But Lady Eona, the ascendant Mirror Dragoneye, supports his majesty. Eona, however, has a dangerous secret: she cannot control her power. The forces of the ten bereft dragons left without a Dragoneye always attack her and her Mirror Dragon, leaving her defenseless in the energy world. Again wrapped in her own web of lies, Eona must find another way to untangle herself, the emperor, and his small army of followers. And Alison Goodman also had to throw in an intricate love triangle, a traitorous ancestress, and, of course, the most unforgettable battle scenes I’ve ever read. That really does mean ever, these are the very best.
